Meilin Reservoir City provides a total floorage of around 0.80 million
m2 including 0.13 million m2of public facilities, and offers nearly 8,000 residential units with a population of 25,000. The residential quarter was occupied in 1998. State leaders, including former Premier Zhu Rongji and the previous Chairman of the standing committee of NPC Li Peng, the chief executive of HKSAR Dong Jianhua, Mr. Li Jiacheng of Hong Kong Cheung Kong Industry and Kwok Brothers of Hong Kong Sun Hung Kai visited it in succession.
The layout is designed in the form of a traditional enclosing-type folk house commonly found in southern china's
mountainous region. 8-14 buildings are consigned to enclose an oasis, and different sizes of oases are interlinked via green corridors to create a variety of interlocking courtyards.
New design concepts such as the concept of 3-in-1 facilities (i.e., security guards, mailbox and garbage collection point) at the entrance of each building-group provide a closed-type management, and pedestrian-car segregation is used to enhance the quality of the living environment. |
