Island Residences is one of the unique concepts of this
design. With waterways crossing from east to west within
the site, six islands are created utilizing the soil
excavated from forming the waterways. Each island is
decorated in the form of internal and external circles,
in three ladders. The external circle is the perimeter
island circle, where most of the buildings are close to
water. The internal circle is the central island circle,
which is built up by the earth excavated to form the
waterway. The surface of the central island circle is
higher than that of the surrounding island circle.
Residences within the central island circles are ranked
in two rows, north and south. This layout allows the
island to have the layering of spaces, and all six
islands to have their own characteristics. The gap of
each island is separated by running water, trees and
linked by roads, small bridges and squares.
Traditional style pitch roof is the basic theme of the
external design. The idea is consistent with the Island
Residence concept. The design of the buildings is based
on the variation of a standard model, with townhouses,
high-rise and low-rise. With the wriggling paths,
different levels of rhythmic experience are formed
within the residential area.
In
order to arrange the internal road system rationally, we
use a tree style road system. One 7-meter-wide,
two-direction trunk road is placed within the site. It
links different groups and internal islands without
crossing between groups. At certain connections of
traffic road and groups, entrances are located. From the
entrances, 3.5 meters wide, one-direction circular roads
are extended to the internal part of the group and to
each house.
